Technical Talk - Frameworks for Radiation Protection in Medical Sector
Date: 31 Oct 2024 (Thursday)
Time: 6:30pm to 7:30 pm
Venue: James Chiu & Dragages Rooms – 9/F, HKIE HQ
Organised byThe Hong Kong Institution of Engineers – Nuclear Division
Deadline of Application
29 Oct 2024 (Tuesday)
Programme Highlights
Ionizing radiation is essential for the medical application. For example, the use of irradiating apparatus such as fluoroscopy system, computed tomography scanner for diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, linear accelerator for radiotherapy, and also the administration of radiopharmaceutical in nuclear medicine is beneficial for enhancing patient outcomes when used wisely.
The guiding principle of radiation safety is “As low as reasonably achievable (ALARA)”. In this technical seminar, the practical approach to adopting the ALARA and frameworks for radiation protection in medical sector will be introduced.
