Abstract
High risk industries, such as process, nuclear and transportation etc., often face potential hazards that may cause harm to public and its staff. Management has the responsibility and liability to make decisions related to safety and risks in order to safeguard potential undesirable scenarios from occurring. This webinar aims to explore means and tools to facilitate safety and risk decision making, by referencing safety principles, such as GAME (Globalement Au Moins aussi bon / Equivalent), MEM (Minimum Endogenous Mortality) and ALARP (As Low As Reasonably Practicable) framework. A beneficial tool called the Value of Preventing a Fatality (VPF) used in Cost-Benefit Analysis to support ALARP decision would be discussed. Finally, different risk acceptance criteria used in various industries to facilitate safety decision making would be referenced.
