Seminar on Multiscale Molecular Simulations of Radiation Process in Materials

Organizer: CityU, Department of Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering & HKNS

Supporting Organizer: IMechE HKB, & HKARMS & HKIE-NE & HKIE - MMNC, & IOSH & HKRPS

Date, Time and Venue

29 March 2018 (Thursday); 7:00 – 8:15 p.m.; Room B4701, 4th Floor, Yeung Kin Man Academic Building, City University of Hong Kong

Programme Highlights

Multiscale methods to span the scales from quantum mechanics to practical issues of functional assembly are enabling first principles predictions to guide and complement the experimental developments by designing and optimizing computationally the electronic and structural defects related systems with the requisite properties. In this presentation, firstly the effects of various radiation on materials will be elaborated. Secondly, multiscale approaches are employed to investigate the transformation of carbon nanostructures under high power photon radiation.

Speaker

Dr. Haibin SU, Associate Professor, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore
